The Global Youth Council for Wildlife Conservation is a group of young people who are passionate about wildlife conservation. They needed a site that would help them get their message out as well as help connect the council members and other interested youth.

Content Management

The ability to easily manage content was vital for the The Global Youth Council for Wildlife Conservation. With 30 members spread across the world, they needed the ability to multiple people to work on the website at the same time. As such, this site is run using WordPress. WordPress is an open source blogging software that is often used as a full content management system with great success. Using WordPress’ built in blogging feature, the council had a perfect tool for creating news.

Communication & Membership

The council needed the ability for people to sign up for a council membership and then effectively communicate with those members. Although WordPress has built in user registration, it does not do very much. However with the combination of a few plugins, bbPress and some lovin’, the site now has a fully automated and rather robust registration process that allows users to:

• Manage their own personal profile page
• Manage their eNewsletter subscriptions
• Register for the council’s discussion boards

Full Web Presence

Given the target audience of the council (young people) it was important that the council’s web presence was more than just a website. In addition to www.youthforwildlife.org, I also designed a Myspace and Facebook page for the council.
